Like every homeowner, I went to shop for my home appliances. Might I add, I was very kiasu and placed deposit for the items even before I confirmed my ID.
On 24 Feb, I went for the Gain City's homeowner's group buy, which entitled us to 8% off prices for brands that participated in the groupbuy. Most of the brands there are applicable, but only some items that are already on promo were excluded. This groupbuy is not as attractive as BTO groupbuys, but as a resale home owner, this was already not bad. At Gain City, we got:- BOSCH washer $999 BOSCH dryer $669 BOSCH built in oven $1599 LG TV $2499 (comes with $300 voucher, so $2199, 8% not applicable)

SONY soundbar $599 LG fridge $1519

Prices before 8% off. I'll attach photos later when I get to use the web browser on my phone. In total, we paid about $750+ of deposit to Gain City (10%) since our scheduled delivery was only in July. Fast forward to about a week later, my friend Jean, introduced to me this salesman at HARVEY NORMAN, named Ah Hwee. He's stationed at Northpoint's HN currently. She said he was popular on Dayre, and that they got all their appliances from him, and he quoted them relatively cheaper than other retailers. I decided to contact Ah Hwee to see if he could quote better than Gain City's groupbuy, I was merely trying to test waters.. We met Ah Hwee on 4 March. Prior to the meetup, I sent him the appliances I bought from Gain City, and other appliances I was keen in. He told us to go down to meet him and he would quote - I believe this is his way of "filtering" out customers who only want to compare price and waste his time (sort of?). We were ELATED. We ended up buying more appliances from him, and deciding to cancel our Gain City order. I changed the brands of some appliances, so I can't do a direct comparison, but:-
LG 9kg washer TWC1409S2W (Original Price $1015, he quoted $950)

Whirlpool dryer AWD712S $539 with free stacking kit
LG SUPER UHD 55" TV 55SK8500PTA (the same one, but $100 cheaper, at $2399, with $300 vouchers, $2099! Update: He has lowered it down to $1899 for me after giving my friend the special price of $1999 for an OLED TV!)
LG microwave MS2595DIS (Original Price $210, he quoted $190)
LG fridge SXS GS-M6262NS (I changed my fridge. I wanted this one when I saw it at Gain City but KA was reluctant.. got a good price with Ah Hwee so he agreed!) - Original Price $2599, he quoted $2250. This fridge is slightly bigger, at 626L. The Gain City one I wanted was 613L.

Dyson V10 Absolute $688
BOSCH Series 8 HBG656RS1B oven (my previous oven was not the Series 8 one, and I was thinking so much about it... if I was ready to spend so much on an oven. But I decided to just buy when Ah Hwee quoted a lot lesser than retail price!) - Original Price $4299, he quoted $3359! It's a BTO groupbuy price, but I am glad he extended it to me even tho I am not with any BTO groupbuys.

SONY sound bar (same one same price as Gain City though) All in all, I got more items, and saved more per item even after the 8% off Gain City's groupbuy. Ah Hwee seems to work by quantities, not by per item profit margins, so he quotes lower to encourage more purchases, I guess? I just went back to him to purchase my XL Philips Air Fryer and my SMEG toaster and kettle last weekend. The airfryer's price I forgot, but the SMEG items were $177 each - the lowest I've seen. I'm happy! Oh, I do want to put a disclaimer that I am NOT related to him, but I have made several referrals to him who have been satisfied. Anyway, no harm approaching him to get appliances you are keen in quoted, if he does not give you a good price, just purchase elsewhere! (: You can telegram me @jcjyx for his contact. Hopefully, Ah Hwee can help you all save some money in these little important appliances we all need in our homes!
